BEAUMONT, Texas — Joe Evans, who previously announced he would not seek re-election as Jefferson County Republican Party chairman, announced Monday he plans to run for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2.

Evans plans to submit his campaign filing, according to a news Monday morning release.

He has worked in juvenile justice for more than 15 years, accumulating over 4,000 hours in the court system., according to the release. He has served with the IEA Program and ReVision SETX, and acted as Guardian ad Litem for more than 20 youths.

"With my years of experience in the juvenile courts, having worked with the IEA Program and ReVision SETX, I will be filling a niche on the Jefferson County Judiciary," Evans said in a statement.
