Tamara Marquez wants deaf children in the Borderland to be able to share their dreams with Santa.

Marquez, the founder and CEO of El Paso SLI , has dedicated her life to helping ensure the deaf community is part of the region’s diverse social fabric.

Deaf children will be able to sign with Santa from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Peter Piper Pizza at 5230 E. Paisano Drive.

Through her company, Marquez, a child of deaf adults, provides American Sign Language interpreting services. Ahead of her company’s free Christmas with Deaf Santa event, she offered insight into the challenges deaf children can face during the holidays and has advice on helping them enjoy the season.
