A widowed D-Day veteran has inspired a brother and sister to write a book about his life. Alfred and Lilly Mawson were so captivated by the wartime heroics of Second World War soldier Harry Archer they sat down to document his life.

They hope Hero Harry, written by Alfred, seen, and illustrated by Lilly, 15, will inspire other children to learn about the sacrifices made by the greatest generation whose number grows smaller each year. It tells the story of the family friend Harry, 101, who stormed Gold Beach in 1944 as part of the mighty Allied invasion of Nazi-occipied France.
