A pair of Union men’s hockey players were honored by ECAC Hockey on Monday for their performances in Saturday’s 4-0 upset of eighth-ranked Quinnipiac.
Freshman goalie Brayden Gillespie was named ECACH Rookie of the Week. In his second start of the season, Gillespie made 31 saves against the Bobcats for his first career collegiate shutout. He stopped all eight shots he faced in relief of Cameron Korpi in Friday’s 5-1 loss to Princeton. Gillespie is the first Union goalie to shut out a ranked foe since Alex Sakellaropoulos did against 13th-Merrimack on Nov. 28, 2015.
