After months of debate and hundreds of public comments, a rezoning request for a controversial data center in Howell Township has been withdrawn for now, according to a social media post published late Dec. 7.
The proposed project for an unnamed Fortune 100 company was set to be located on numerous parcels east of Handy Township along Marr Road, Fleming Road, Warner Road and Owosso Road on land currently owned by the Van Gilder family.
The announcement was shared on a page titled "Howell Data Center," created by the Van Gilders to be a "source for transparent, factual updates" on the project.
