Five months of works will take place on the A12 in the new year to replace 1,500 metres of pipes.

Cadent will begin the gas works on Monday, January 5 until Friday, May 22 2026.

The A12 works, which will be carried out in phases, involve the decommissioning of the current metallic gas pipes which were installed more than 65 years ago.

They will be replaced by new plastic pipes, which are planned to last for decades.

These works are also to help ensure a reliable and safe supply of gas and help get the local gas network ready for cleaner gases, like biomethane.

Due to the complex nature of the work and the location of the gas pipes, there will be road closures, lane restrictions and other traffic management measures throughout the scheme.
