TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Drexel Heights Fire District responded to a fuel spill at a gas station over the weekend.
Drexel Heights says it happened Saturday, December 6, at the AM/PM in the 2800 block of West Valencia Road.
Officials say a driver reportedly drove off with the fuel nozzle still attached and caused more than 20 gallons of diesel to spill onto the ground.
Crews quickly worked to prevent fuel from entering the sewer system and initiated spill mitigation efforts.
Tucson Fire Department was later requested to assist by providing additional absorbent material to further contain and clean the spill.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the spill.
