ANN ARBOR — Notre Dame, feeling it was snubbed from the College Football Playoff, took its ball and went home. The Fighting Irish withdrew from consideration for any bowl game Sunday. Michigan coach Sherrone Moore can’t relate to that thinking.
“That’s their decision,” Moore said Monday, “and that’s something that we’re just not going to do.”
The Wolverines (9-3) were ranked No. 18 in the committee’s final playoff rankings; it came as no surprise that were left out of the 12-team field. Notre Dame had been in position to earn an at-large bid until the committee reversed course and moved Miami (and kept Alabama) in the top 10. Notre Dame, at No. 11, was left out since two non-power-conference schools qualified.
