ORCHARD PARK - The Buffalo Bills have, at the very least, given themselves a chance to catch and pass the New England Patriots in the AFC East.
Their thrilling, come-from-behind shootout 39-34 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals pulled the 9-4 Bills to within two games of the 11-2 Patriots, but because the best they can do is square up the head-to-head tiebreaker with a win Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, the odds of Buffalo overtaking New England remain ominous.
Still, they have a chance, one they would not have if they hadn’t rallied to score three touchdowns in a dizzying span of 4:30 in the fourth quarter at Highmark Stadium to surge past Cincinnati in another game that is helping to send out the 53-year-old venue on quite a heater.
