2Alabama man arrested after failed DC bank robbery note scheme
Washington, DC — A 61-year-old man from Alabama was arrested Saturday after police say he handed a demand note to a bank employee in Northeast Washington, then calmly walked outside expecting the cash to follow.
The attempted robbery happened just before 11:20 a.m. at a bank on the 300 block of H Street NE, where the suspect entered and passed a note to a teller demanding money. Instead of waiting for the response inside, he exited the building, telling the employee he would be outside for the handoff.
Officers from the First District arrived within minutes and quickly located the suspect nearby. He was arrested without incident.
Detectives identified the man as Bruce Dudley Lord of Mobile, Alabama. He has been charged wit
