THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven districts of Kerala will observe a holiday today in view of local body elections. A holiday was declared for government offices, educational institutions, private sector institutions, government, semi-government, commercial institutions and banks under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Employees who are voters in central government offices, including industrial institutions in the state, will be allowed to vote even if they do not have a holiday. The Central Personnel and Training Department informed the State Election Commission that reasonable facilities will be provided by allowing officials to come to the office late, leave early or by allocating special time to vote.
