Warning: Spoilers ahead for The War Between the Land and the Sea, Episode 1, "Homo Aqua."From some of the earliest promotional material for The War Between the Land and the Sea, the Doctor Who spinoff divided Whovians by unveiling an extensive redesign of some classic-era villains. Before the spinoff, their most recent appearance came during Jodie Whittaker's time as the Thirteenth Doctor. Although they had been updated a little, they were still recognizably the same antagonists that Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor faced in the 1970s. The War Between, on the other hand, had a more thorough makeover in mind for the Sea Devils.
