ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Georgia state representative was arrested Monday after she was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to pandemic unemployment fraud.
Sharon Henderson, who represents district 113 in the state House of Representatives, was indicted on two counts of theft of government funds and 10 counts of making false statements, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
Henderson is expected to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Justin Anand on Monday and enter a not-guilty plea
Court documents state in 2020, Henderson, while a candidate for the seat, applied for federal pandemic unemployment benefits and claimed Henry County Schools was her employer at the time.
