A DeSoto County judge was arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving under the influence.
Karen Sanders, the District 5 justice court judge, was taken into custody by the Hernando Police Department on Saturday and charged with DUI and reckless driving.
According to the DeSoto Times-Tribune, she was pulled over for swerving in an intersection at East Commerce and Mt. Pleasant Roads before being pulled over and breathalyzed. She was reportedly above the legal limit during the on-scene breathalyzer test and again at the police department.
Sanders was booked at the DeSoto County Jail but released the same night of the incident on her own recognizance.
The report added that Sanders is still employed by the court but is under investigation.
