Starbucks teased another "chance" to score the viral Bearista Cold Cup on Monday, Dec. 8 – but it's not the restock some fans were hoping for.
Customers will get the chance to own their very own bear-shaped glass by winning the Starbucks for Life holiday game, which opened to Starbucks Rewards members on Dec. 8.
The Bearista cup is a prize that can be won through the game, along with other prizes like Starbucks gift cards, free Starbucks for a year, and even free Starbucks for life.
Here's what to know.
Is the Starbucks Bearista cup restocking?
Not really. On Sunday, Dec. 7, Starbucks posted a video to Instagram featuring the sold-out Bearista Cup that people have been trying to get their hands on, which got many fans excited.
"Your chance is in the Starbucks app. Tomorrow, 12/8," the coffeehouse chain said.
However, Starbucks confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday, Dec. 8, that the chance to get the cup is through the Starbucks for Life promotion, which some fans had speculated.
What is the Starbucks for Life holiday game?
The event is an annual event held by Starbucks, where Starbucks Rewards members can receive prizes for playing.
Each week, members can use a Prize Play to enter and win instant prizes, including handcrafted beverages, cake pops, bonus stars, and more. Members who play the game each week will also automatically be entered to win Starbucks for Life.
The event will take place from Dec. 8 to Jan. 4, according to Starbucks.
What are some of the prizes people can win?
Here are the prizes Starbucks Rewards members can win if they play the Starbucks for Life holiday game:
- Free Starbucks for life
- Free Starbucks for a year
- Free beverages and food
- Bonus Stars
- Starbucks gift Cards to use on future Starbucks orders
- Starbucks Glass Bearista Cold Cup
An average of over 600 Bearista cups will be available to win each day, according to Starbucks.
What is the Starbucks Bearista Cold Cup?
The Bearista cup is a 20-ounce glass cup shaped like a bear. Its lid looks like a green beanie and it holds a Starbucks cup with the chain's logo.
The cup was released on Thursday, Nov. 6, the same day that Starbucks unveiled its holiday menu, and sold out immediately.
"The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations, and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast," Starbucks said in a statement at the time.
Now, the cups are being resold online for hundreds of dollars, USA TODAY previously reported. Others are searching for dupes or DIYing their own versions of the bear cup.
