Down their two starting safeties, the Detroit Lions added some much-needed depth to their secondary on Monday afternoon.
Per Ian Rapport and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Lions are signing veteran safety Damonate Kazee to their practice squad. The expectation is that the Lions will get Kazee quickly acclimated once he’s ready.
Kazee, 32, recently played four games with the Cleveland Browns this season, playing 11 snaps on defense and 37 on special teams. While his defensive snaps this season are limited, Kazee has shown the ability to pick off opposing quarterbacks, with 17 career interceptions.
In 2018, he, former NFL defenders Kyle Fuller and Xavien Howard, led the league with seven interceptions.
