The deadline to pay personal property taxes has been extended by one day for thousands of people who live in Lynchburg, Virginia, after heavy snow closed municipal offices on Monday.

The winter storm comes after the Mid-Atlantic region was walloped by heavy snowfall last week, prompting the closings of hundreds of schools . As of Monday afternoon, winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were in place across much of Virginia, including Lynchburg.
