STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With hundreds of different languages spoken across the most linguistically diverse city in the world, New York City is taking steps to improve its communication with non-English speakers.

On Monday, Mayor Eric Adams announced that he issued a directive to all city agencies to study ways they can use emerging technologies to break down language barriers between their employees and the communities they serve.
