LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Two Louisville Metro Police officers reunited with the young brothers they rescued from a house fire eight months ago, receiving heartfelt thanks from the boys, who are now healthy and recovering.

Officers Jacob Capito and Joshua Richardson responded to a house fire on Lana Drive on March 22. The 911 calls reported children trapped inside the burning home.

“We immediately saw a small child outside and neighbors frantic, house smoking, and ran in,” one of the officers said. “We grabbed a fire extinguisher and the gas line out, so they could get down the hallway while the other one searched the house.”

The officers ran into the house despite heavy smoke that reduced visibility to near zero.
