Rochdale Christmas lights fundraiser returns for fifth year as residential street transforms into festive haven

A street in the Rochdale launched its annual Christmas lights fundraiser for the fifth year in a row over the weekend on Saturday, December 6. Manchester’s answer to Blackpool illuminations, Wrenbury Drive lights up every year and raises thousands for Springhill Hospice. View 9 Images

The display first began in 1998 when a few residents decided to put up festive decorations . More and more houses got involved until five years ago they decided to raise money for charity. View 9 Images

Homes are lit up every year with glowing Santas, sparkling trees and LED displays, and families from across Greater Manchester travel to the neighbourhood every year to see the festive charity drive. Last year the community managed to raise around £5,000 by the time the displays came
