For the second straight year, the WSU Cougars’ head football coach has left the Palouse for a Power Four conference program.
After spending just one season as WSU’s head coach this fall, Jimmy Rogers left Pullman for Iowa State, where he was named the Cyclones’ new head coach on Friday.

That comes less than 12 months after Jake Dickert – who was WSU’s head coach for three and a half seasons from 2021 to 2024 – left the Palouse last December to take the head-coaching job at Wake Forest.
The coaching turnover at Washington State comes in the wake of the Pac-12’s demise following the 2023 season, which stripped the Cougs’ status of belonging to a power conference. WSU will be part of the new-look Pac-12 that launches next
