WEST PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria County detectives identified a suspect who allegedly robbed a Walgreens in West Peoria last week.

Detectives said 52-year-old Michael D. Dawson is still on the run. He is accused of robbing the Walgreens on North Western Avenue last week.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said the crime happened at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2. He said Dawson, who was wearing a surgical mask, entered the store and initially tried to get money from a Western Union kiosk, but he was denied.

Following that, Watkins said Dawson then demanded an employee give him all the money from the cash register. That employee handed him an undisclosed amount of cash before Dawson left the store and drove off in a black Ford Edge SUV.
