SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa (KTIV) - Sergeant Bluff Fire and Rescue has a new member this holiday season: “Blaze” the Elf.

The elf showed up to join the team on Dec. 1, but instead of attending fire calls in the community, he has been caught doing mischievous elf tasks around the station.

His activities include decorating the tree, having snowball fights and taking over the fire truck.

Fire Chief Anthony Gaul said the department welcomes the seasonal volunteer.

“We’re always looking for volunteers and applications going out, and Blaze took it upon himself to come on in. It’s been refreshing to see some of the things,” said Gaul. “We really appreciate him checking on Tristan’s gear as he’s deployed overseas.
