SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The new housing development “East High Lofts” celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

The building at 1520 Morningside Avenue, which was once East Junior High School, has been repurposed into apartments while still keeping many of its historical components. People toured the building during the grand opening event.

Tyler Sheeran, Managing Vice President of Development for Commonwealth Development Corp., said the project will hopefully serve a growing need in the city.

“We heard it today from Mayor [Bob] Scott that there’s a great need for affordable housing across the entire city of Sioux City,” said Sheeran. “So, we hope that this is just one of many future solutions that can be brought to the community.”

The lofts have floor plans for two to four bedrooms
