SALISBURY — Catawba’s women’s basketball team held off Lincoln Memorial 54-51 on Saturday at Goodman Arena, as the Indians got their first South Atlantic Conference win in front of 231 fans.
A lot went wrong for the Indians (3-4, 1-1), including losing Bailee Goodlett (North Rowan) after four minutes, but they pulled it out to end a three-game skid. Catawba won despite shooting 32 percent and losing the turnover battle. Making 16 of 17 free throws was huge for the Indians.
Mary Spry (Carson) had 14 points and eight rebounds. Imani Williams had 11 big points off the bench. Brooklin Ingram scored 10. Kairah Dixon-Boooker had nine points and 13 rebounds.
It was the first loss for Lincoln Memorial (5-1, 1-1).
