A 42-year-old man was arrested for violently attacking an elderly woman in downtown Seattle by hitting her in the face with a stick on Friday.

At approximately 12 a.m., the Seattle Police Department (SPD) received several reports of a man swinging a wooden stick with metal screws in it near Third Avenue and James Street, SPD announced .

“He swung the stick like a baseball bat, intentionally striking her in the face, causing serious facial injuries,” Seattle Police Detective Eric Muñoz told KIRO Newsradio.
