Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders will be reunited on screen in the Amandaland Christmas special

Joanna Lumley has said it was “pretty special” reuniting with her Absolutely Fabulous co-star Jennifer Saunders for the Amandaland Christmas special.

On Christmas Day, Saunders will appear as Joan, the sister of Dame Joanna's character Felicity and auntie of the show's titular star Amanda, played by Lucy Punch.

Asked about filming, Dame Joanna said: “It was pretty special having Jennifer in the show. We were playing characters as far from Edina and Patsy as can be imagined. Everyone adored having her there, especially me, and it all felt empty when the Christmas episode was over and she had gone.”

Comic Jennifer said working with Lumley again was “like riding a bicycle”. She added:
