WESTON, Wis. (WBAY) - Governor Tony Evers was in the Wausau area on Monday signing Bradyn’s Law, which imposes harsh penalties for anyone convicted of sextortion, especially if it leads to the victim’s death.
The legislation was inspired by DC Everest High School student Bradyn Bohn. Bradyn’s Law was introduced after the tragic passing of 15-year-old Bradyn Bohn.
Bradyn died by suicide in March after becoming a target of sextortion.
His parents then went to state lawmakers, demanding changes to prevent other children from becoming victims.
The governor signed the bill at Bradyn’s school, surrounded by a number of his former classmates.
According to the FBI, sextortion targets people, often teenage boys, and coerces them into sending explicit images.
