TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, as foreign terrorist organizations.
DeSantis announced the executive order on Monday.
It directs Florida agencies to take measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations.
The governor says this includes denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support.
In the executive order, DeSantis claims that in the aftermath of the Oct. 7 attack, Muslim Brotherhood chapters in the Middle East joined attacks against Israel and provided support to Hamas, Hezbollah and other Palestinian groups.
CAIR is the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.
