AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Crime records have been expunged after charges were dismissed against a local man.
Ian Wright had been charged in 2021 with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree, according to arrest records.
However, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said charges were dismissed because of insufficient evidence. Officials said multiple people had access to the IP address associated with the offense, and they couldn’t prove who owned a phone that contained two illegal images.
As a result, the charges were dropped and the records were expunged, or destroyed, a legal status equal to the arrest or charges never occurring.
