LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - LEXINGTON, Ky. — Parents and students voiced concerns Monday night about a proposal to house two STEM academies in the same building during a Fayette County school board meeting.
The district is considering placing the George Washington Carver STEM Academy for Boys in the same building being constructed for the RISE STEM Academy for Girls, which is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Before the meeting began, parents and students from RISE demonstrated outside to show board members why keeping the schools separate matters to them.
“We did want to make sure that the board was able to hear her voices too, and they won’t be at the Wednesday meeting so we are showing out multiple times to make sure that they understand the impact that they’re going to have,” said Amy G
