After the Hoosiers mostly flew through their first seven games under new coach Darian DeVries, launching a bevy of 3-pointers and then using the space those shots created to cut backdoor for layups, they have run into back-to-back teams who successfully slowed down that offensive attack.

First, Minnesota dropped the Hoosiers from the ranks of the unbeaten Wednesday with a 73-64 defeat that saw DeVries’ team shoot just 40% from the field and 8 for 27 from 3-point range. Then, Louisville matched the Golden Gophers’ gameplan, running Indiana off the 3-point line, pressuring the ball as soon as it crossed halfcourt, forcing catches well beyond the arc and attentively covering backdoor cuts.
