The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued 3.6 million e-challans to drivers on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway since July 2024. These challans were issued for violations such as speeding, unsafe overtaking, and lane cutting.

The total amount of unpaid fines is estimated to be around INR 600 crore. However, only 15% of the fines have been paid. This means INR 90 crore has been recovered from traffic violators, and around 530,000 e-challans have been settled.

As per reports, the remaining offenders are being pursued, and reminders are being sent regularly. Authorities continue to track violators using the ITMS system to recover pending fines and improve road safety along the Mumbai-Pune Motorway.
