While trying to dream up meals he would actually enjoy eating — with balanced macros, limited oils and salt and adequate amounts of protein and fibre — John Joseph realized he wasn’t the only one with that problem.

In June, John Joseph was unwell.

“I was about 70 pounds overweight” with diabetes, and high cholesterol and blood pressure. His liver was in rough shape, and he had “no ambition, no drive, no energy,” he told The Hamilton Spectator.
