Down a handful of its most prominent players due to injury and eligibility issues, the Coconino girls basketball team nearly pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback in its first home game of the season against the Deer Valley Skyhawks at Roth Athletic Center on Monday night.

The Panthers nearly erased a 13-point deficit midway through the final frame, but a few key foul shots from the Skyhawks sealed the 51-45 Deer Valley victory.
