A Long Island man scored big in the New York Lottery, winning a $1 million second prize in the Powerball game for matching the first five numbers drawn on Sept. 6, lottery officials announced.
Syed Abbas of Levittown claimed the $1 million payout and opted to receive a one-time lump sum payment totaling $651,000, after required withholdings, according to officials.
The winning numbers were: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and Powerball 17.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hillside Cigar Shop, located at 338 Hillside Ave. in Williston Park. Winston Park is located on Long Island.
New York’s Powerball game generated $327,836,044 in total sales during fiscal year 2024-2025. School districts in Nassau County received $250,170,564 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
