NEW DELHI: Microsoft will invest 17.5 billion US dollars (about 1.5 lakh crore Indian rupees) to develop artificial intelligence technology in India. The announcement was made by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the largest investment Microsoft has made in Asia.
Nadella said the investment will be in developing digital infrastructure, cloud computing learning, skill development and AI-centric capabilities for India's AI needs. Nadella's visit is aimed at increasing Microsoft's presence in India and focusing on the cloud and AI markets. He will also visit Mumbai and Bengaluru during his four-day visit to Delhi.
