YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will be displaying a nine-foot-tall Menorah at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) on Gypsy Lane to celebrate Hanukkah.

Hanukkah kicks off at sundown on Sunday, December 14, and will be celebrated with a nightly Menorah lighting with special prayers and fried foods. One candle will be lit per night.

Hanukkah celebrates the rededication of the Second Temple after the Maccabean Revolt, as well as the miracle of light when the oil in the menorah in the temple stayed lit for eight days even though there was only enough oil for one day.
