The national inquiry into grooming gangs will be chaired by former children’s commissioner and Labour-appointed peer Anne Longfield.
The £65 million inquiry will take three years and focus exclusively on grooming gangs, rather than wider child sexual exploitation.
Since it was announced in June the inquiry has been beset by criticism with four women resigning from the victim liaison panel and two previous candidates to be chair dropping out.
