Vop Osili will leave his role as Indianapolis City-County Council president at the year's end, fueling speculation that the longtime Democratic councilor plans to run for mayor in the 2027 city elections.
A councilor since 2012, Osili became council president in early 2018 and has gained broad support among colleagues as a measured leader. He's faced backlash this year, however, over his handling of sexual harassment allegations within Mayor Joe Hogsett's administration.
