Ontario Provincial Police asked residents in a Strathroy neighbourhood to shelter in place as they responded to an incident on Tuesday afternoon.

Residents in the area of Scott Street between Princess and Adelaide streets were advised to stay inside with doors and windows locked while police investigated an active incident that began on Tuesday at about 1:30 p.m.

“If you live in the area, please stay inside,” OPP officials wrote in a post on social media. Others should stay away from the area until further notice, police said.

“Members of the public can expect an increased police presence as police continue their investigation,” police said. “We recognize the significant emotional impact that receiving a shelter-in-place (order) can cause.”
