BERKELEY SPRINGS - Hospice of the Panhandle continued one of its most meaningful traditions over the weekend, as hundreds of luminaries were lit across the Eastern Panhandle for Light Up a Life, an annual event honoring loved ones lost and supporting hospice care throughout the region.
The ceremony, a tradition stretching back more than 35 years, has long served as a memorial gathering and major fundraiser for the organization, with earlier versions of the event featuring strings of lights in trees at places like City Hospital and the former Martinsburg Mall.
