ROCKFORD, Ill. — The name of a Winnebago County Jail inmate who was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive was released.
The Winnebago County Coroner's Office said the woman was identified as 30-year-old Miranda Joiner of Rockford.
Just after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, correctional officers found Joiner unresponsive inside her cell.
She was brought to a local hospital after correctional officers, on-site medical staff, and first responders tried to resuscitate her.
Joiner was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force are investigating Joiner's death.
There was no mention of an autopsy being done or scheduled yet.
