A pharmaceutical company that has headquarters in North Jersey has recalled a blood pressure medication because of cross-contamination with another drug.
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals , whose headquarters are located in Elmwood Park, recalled multiple lots of their product known as Ziac.
Ziac is a bisoprolol fumarate and hydrochlorothiazide yellow tablet used to offset hypertension, other wise known as high blood pressure.
The recall went into effect on Dec. 1 as 11,136 bottles were retracted, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration.
FDA labeled the recall as of a Class III level risk , described the case as one where “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
