Edmonton police have confirmed that a death early Monday morning at a home in northeast Edmonton was a homicide.

Officers were called around 2 a.m. to the home on 80 Street and 117 Avenue for reports of a stabbing. They arrived to find the victim “in medical distress.”

“Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived and took over medical care. Sadly, the male was declared deceased at the scene,” police said in a news release on Monday.

An autopsy was performed on Tuesday, where the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 19-year-old William Pratt died from a stab wound.
