At least one student was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting at a residence hall at Kentucky State University on Tuesday. A suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, officials said.

“The suspect has been arrested, and there is no ongoing threat. Two individuals were critically injured, and I am sad to share that one has now passed away,” Governor Andy Beshear said in a post on X on Tuesday.

According to the university, one student who was shot at the residence hall, Whitney M. Young Jr. Hall, is in critical condition but is stable. The school is not immediately releasing the names of the students.
