(KBTX) - Multiple reports are out that Texas A&M is in the process of hiring Tight Ends coach Derek Shay from Kentucky.
This comes in reaction to the current tight ends coach, Christian Ellsworth, reportedly leaving Texas A&M to follow Collin Klein at Kansas State. Elsworth worked under Kelin as a graduate assistant at Kansas State from 2020-21 and spent the past two seasons in Aggieland, last year as the tight ends coach.
Shay spent the past two seasons at Kentucky. In 2024, he was a senior offensive analyst and run game specialist, and in 2025, he was the tight ends coach for the Wildcats. Shay also had stops as a tight ends coach at Marshall (2023-24), LSU (202-22), and McNeese State (2019-20). He was a senior offensive analyst for Missouri from 2022-23.
