Beans were one of the most ordered foods on Grubhub in 2025.

Beans were the breakout star of 2025, according to Grubhub.

Insights published by the Chicago, Illinois-based company suggest that "foodmaxxing" reached new heights this year, with an increase in orders that were nutritious, functional and pleasing to the eye.

Foodmaxxing is a "cultural shift where meals, snacks, drinks, and grocery orders were designed for maximum nutritional value, functional payoff, and yes, a little extra aesthetic appeal for their social feeds," Grubhub said.

From grocery orders to drinks, "foodmaxxing" shows up all over Grubhub's 2025 Delivered Report, which collected data on Grubhub platforms and analyzed millions of orders from Jan. 1 through Oct. 15. According to Grubhub, "this was the year food had to prove itself."

"People wanted meals that did everything from boosting energy to supporting gut health, and of course, hitting those protein goals," Grubhub said of its report. "If food didn’t do something for you, it wasn’t getting ordered."

  • Eggs - Grubhub grocery orders for eggs (and other breakfasty ingredients) skyrocketed 58%. The sausage, egg and cheese sandwich was also the most ordered egg dish in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
