ALBANY — A third high-ranking State Police official has filed paperwork to retire as part of a widening probe into the alleged improper use of credentials to gain special access at the recent Ryder Cup golf event at Bethpage Black in September.
Acting Staff Inspector Stephen Udice, who was in charge of security for the golf tournament as commander of Troop L at the time of the event, has joined Deputy Superintendent R. Christopher West and Col. Darren Pitkin in retiring, according to a State Police spokesman.
The state Inspector General’s office is examining whether the State Police officials were improperly given access to VIP areas during the golf tournament.
