Eileen Higgins (D) defeated Trump-backed opponent Emilio González (R) in Tuesday night’s runoff for Miami mayor, the Miami Herald reports.

Although the race is technically non-partisan, Higgins is the first Democrat to become mayor of Miami since 1997.
